The Red chair formed part of the Prince of Wales’ historic investiture ceremony in Caernarfon in July 1969.

Made from stained Welsh beech, the back is engraved with the Prince of Wales feathers and motto “Ich Dien” in gilt.

The chair was designed by the Earl of Snowdon and were made at the Remploy factory in Bridgend. Some 4, 600 of these chairs were made and sold for £12 each at the end of the day.
