Arm chair / Cadair freichiau

Welsh arm chair made from birch with a rich patina.
Pembrokeshire circa 1850

The underside of the seat is inscribed in pencil “John Williams Clarberston”
Clarberston is a small village in Pembrokeshire about 8 miles north of Narberth.Whilst we have been unable to trace a chair-maker or joiner from Clarberston, it could be possible that he worked for either H.V.Thomas or the Wheeler family – who were both prominent cabinet makers in Narberth and who both produced similar types of chair.
